The Code of Canon Law states:
Each parish is to have a finance council which is regulated by universal laws as well as by norms issued by the diocesan bishop; in this council the Christian faithful, selected according to the same norms, aid the pastor in the administration of parish goods with due regard for the prescription of Canon 532.
The parish’s main income is from the Sunday collection.
In the Diocese of Christchurch. 1/3 of the Sunday collection goes to the Diocese for the support of priests.
Parishioners are encouraged to join the Planned Giving scheme through which their donations are recorded and receipted. The Planned Giving Scheme can be done by direct crediting or by asking for numbered envelopes. There are two main advantages of parishioners contributing through Planned giving, namely
1) It allows the Parish to budget better
2) The donor can claimed back a tax rebate of their donation
If you would like to support the parish in this way please contact the parish office.
